This is an experiment and lesson in computer mediated communication in the classroom. Students must strive to use standard English, avoid textspeak, and typos as much as possible. By proofreading before posting, these goals can be attained. Everything posted must be appropriate and related to classroom topics. Yes, that is a valid observation but dig deeper...Why does this caged bird sing? And what kind of song does he/she sing?
compare a caged bird to one who is free. Is there a difference? Can anyone relate this to something more than a bird? Think symbolism, metaphorically speaking, etc...
When we start analyzing a poem, we dig and uncover new meanings bit by bit but once we find something we shouldn't stop because like buried treasure there is likely to be more if we continue to dig. :-)
